Action needed on Eaton Avenue as 1 in 5 cars is speeding


Residents of Eaton Avenue, Central Bletchley have collected 121 signatures about cars exceeding the speed limit in the road.  Local councillor Mohammed Khan is supporting the residents call for action.

A survey carried out by the Town Council showed that over a week in February 2018; of the 3,931 cars counted 812 or 21% exceeded the 30 mph limit. The breakdown was:

  • 770 over 40 mph
  • 38 over 50 mph
  • 4 over 60 mph.

Total 812 out of 3,921 counted by the SID (Speed Indicator Device)

Cllr Khan said, “Eaton Avenue in Central Bletchley has a problem of speeding cars. It is a residential road. I am supporting the residents to get some action to address this problem. The recent speed count showed over 800 cars exceeding the speed limit. ”

Cllr Khan concluded, “I want to see action from Milton Keynes Council to make the road safer. I think we need improved signage, including the flashing speed sign or if that does not work we may need to look at going for a 20mph limit or traffic calming measures. ”
