Ernie Butler: Newport Pagnell North

Committed to improving support within the community

I am your Labour representative for Newport Pagnell North and Hanslope, which includes all of Newport Pagnell town on the north side of the High Street/Wolverton Road, plus Redhouse Park, Castlethorpe, Gayhurst, Hanslope, Haversham, Little Linford and Stoke Goldington.

I’m fairly new to Milton Keynes, having moved here in 2015 from Elstree and Borehamwood, where I served on both the Town Council and the Borough Council. I’ve been involved in local politics for over 15 years, and bring a wealth of experience with me.

I have also served a year as Mayor of Borehamwood. The post is now held by my son, who is also a Labour councillor.

As a town councillor I ensured that the environment was looked after, and also helped with a number of local events. On the borough council, I have successfully dealt with a number of core issues affecting the community, including helping people with housing, financial support, transport, and waste and recycling problems. I feel that this experience will benefit the community of Newport Pagnell North.

In addition to my work as a councillor, I was also a School Governor, and have put a great deal of energy into improving the wellbeing of young people. Along with like-minded members of the community, I was involved in the creation of ‘Box Clever’, a club that provides them with the opportunity to learn boxing, and have fun with others their own age.

I also created a youth council, which enabled young people to get involved in local politics. In fact it is down to them that Borehamwood now has a skateboard park, which has gone from strength to strength to this day.

I will do my best to address any local issues that you, as a member of the community, want me to take on, and get positive result.
