Extra Parking is a top priority

On Monday 22 February West Bletchley Parish Council considered a proposed programme of new parking across the area. It agreed parking was a top priority and that new bays need to be part of the Councils work after May 2016.

This would build upon the investment in parking bays of recent years.

West Bletchley Labour councillors Nigel Long and Mick Legg have identified 14 priority roads that would immediately benefit from a programme of investment in new parking bays. The roads identified are:

Sutherland Grove, Bushey Close, Neath Crescent, Cardigan Close, Sussex Road, Middlesex Drive, Kinross, Severn Way, Cornwall Grove, Melrose Avenue, Spenlows Road, Shenley Road (A421 end) Westminster Drive and Whaddon Way.

Cllr Nigel Long said, "I have recently met with residents in a range of roads across West Bletchley. It is really clear that we need to improve parking provision locally. But each road has a different need and story to tell. Each road or close needs a different solution."

Cllr Long added, "The parish council at its meeting agreed the importance of improving parking locally. That was a great decision and the roads identified will be considered as part of our local investment work locally next year."

Cllr Nigel Long concluded, "We believe that lack of parking is a major problem. Our surveys and weekly advice surgery highlights this from resident feedback. I am asking the parish council to invest in much needed new parking provision. It’s a top priority for us. It is what residents want. But they must be consulted on the best options in each road. We also need to look at resident parking permits in some roads."
