Labour Councillor for Loughton & Shenley, Zoe Nolan, has successfully secured the development of a brand new play park for residents in Ashpole Furlong, Loughton.

The new play park will overlook the Equestrian Centre so will be themed around the book ‘Black Beauty’ with a range of play equipment for children of all ages to enjoy.

Councillor Zoe Nolan has been instrumental in bringing together Milton Keynes Council and Loughton & Great Holm Parish on this project and a grant from Wren will bring this play park to life for local residents.

Cabinet Member for Children and Families, Cllr Nolan has championed a series of other local play park projects including the refurbishment of the popular Pirate Park in Loughton, creation of the Wind in the Willows park in Great Holm and refurbishing a beautiful play park spot in Shenley Church End. She is currently working on getting new equipment for the existing play park in Medbourne and finding a suitable site for a play park in Oakhill for younger children.

Cllr Nolan told us: “Play is an essential part of every child’s life and the benefit of free, open spaces for children is huge, so I’m proud to have been involved with so many of these local projects.”

She continued: “I want every part of this ward to have access to great play parks so we’re now looking for new possible sites in Oakhill so that residents there can have a play park of their own and looking to continue to improve existing sites such as Medbourne as children have told me a basket swing and roundabout would make the play park even better.”

She concluded: “So many families enjoy the popular Pirate & Wind in the Willows parks so the addition of another themed play park is really exciting and I can’t wait to see families enjoying it.”

Installation of the Ashpole Furlong park is due to begin in May following consultation with local residents and the plan is to make sure the park is ready for children to enjoy by the Summer holidays.
