Milton Keynes Labour Party issued a statement about campaigning today following the attacks in London last night.

We are shocked and horrified by last night’s brutal attacks in London. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those who have died and for the many who have been injured.

We thank the police and emergency services for their bravery and courage in acting to save lives and deal with these appalling acts of terrorism. We thank NHS staff and members of the public who have worked so hard to protect others.

National campaigning has been suspended. The canvassing sessions that MKLP had organised for today have been cancelled as a mark of respect for those who have died and suffered injury.

Those who wish to harm our people, divide our communities and attack our democracy will not succeed.

The broad Labour family will come together this evening at 6pm. We will stand together to defend our common values of solidarity, humanity and justice. We will be at the MK Rose in Campbell Park from 6pm to pay our respects. All are welcome.
