Cllr Mohammed Khan has backed local disabled campaigner Iris Graham and the calls from the wider community for effective parking enforcement by Milton Keynes Council.

Parking is often very difficult in Queensway, Central Bletchley. Cars and vans often ignore the double yellow lines making it difficult for residents, especially older and disabled ones to cross the road.

Cllr Khan said, “Central Bletchley resident Iris Graham has been calling for ‘safe parking’ in Queensway for 4 years. She is right that the poor parking, especially on the Double Yellow lines causes problems for pedestrians. We need action to deal with the poor parkers. We need Milton Keynes Council to enforce the no parking restrictions that come with Double Yellow lines.”

The matter has been discussed at the recent Bletchley community forum and by the Bletchley and Fenny Town Council.

Cllr Khan added, “There is a lot of support for effective enforcement. I have written to the Council’s Strategic Director for Place. He has responsibility for parking enforcement.”

Cllr Khan concluded, “I must thank Iris Graham for taking this issue up and raising it with me. Hopefully we can get enforcement of the Double Yellow Lines and make Queensway safer for residents including the many disabled and older people who rely on the local shops.”
