At last night’s Cabinet meeting on the 6 March, Milton Keynes’ Labour administration allocated budget for next year to provide equipment to help parish councils and community groups monitor and control the speed of traffic on St. Leger Drive. A road seen by residents as dangerous.

Residents living near the Great Linford Local Centre, including parents of children at the Great Linford Primary School and older residents of Fulwell Court have called upon Milton Keynes Council to support their request for a safe crossing. They have been working with the Council and Police since September 2017.   

The Cabinet meeting heard from Cllr Martin Gowans, responsible for safe roads. He had previously met with residents and listened to Great Linford resident and community campaigner Hannah Minns. He said,

“I have listened to the residents, Hanah Minns, the parish council and the Police. I want to see a good solution to the traffic safety concerns of residents. We will find the best solution and we aim to fund this, in part, from the Community Highway Fund.”

This will be especially pleasing to the residents of Great Linford, who have been concerned about speed on St Leger Drive, and congestion around Great Linford School (on the same road)

Hannah Minns, a great Linford resident and community campaigner, welcomed the news. She said, “Great Linford residents will now be able to monitor excess speeding and help the police and local council, using the equipment the council can provide for us”
