I love Newport Pagnell and want it to be the very best it can be.
I'm your Labour representative for Newport Pagnell South, which includes the areas of Blakelands, Giffard Park and parts of Great Linford. Many people in these areas enjoy a good quality of life, and that needs to be maintained. Others may be struggling and need support. I intend to be an effective voice for all, and for the area as a whole.
I moved to Milton Keynes from London in 1976. I lived in several parts of the “New City” area before settling in Newport Pagnell in 2005. This is where I grew up, went to school, got married and raised my children and stepchildren. I've experienced Milton Keynes as a school pupil, a parent, a hospital patient, a neighbour, a bus passenger, an employee, a cyclist, a commuter, a victim of crime and in many other ways.
I served on Milton Keynes Council from 1998-2002. I've been a neighbourhood councillor, a school governor, chair of my Parish Council, and a trade union official. I’ve also taken part in and various other community groups, all in Milton Keynes.
Professionally, I spent 16 years working for Abbey National, in their Milton Keynes head office, in roles including ICT, project management and employee relations. Since 2005 I have made working in the not-for-profit sector my occupation. I was Deputy General Secretary of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL), one of Britain's largest trade unions, and was then Chief Operating Officer of the Business Disability Forum.
I am currently a Newport Pagnell Parish councillor.
I would like for us all to be living in a stronger community. I’m dedicated to this area, and I want to help make it the best it can be.
