Residents want action on Dangerous Whalley Drive “Blind corner” Junction

Residents want action on Dangerous Whalley Drive “Blind corner” Junction.

Where Whalley Drive meets Whaddon Way is a dangerous junction according to many residents who live near the junction.

The junction is recognised as being dangerous because parking in Whalley Drive close to the junction creates a “blind corner”.

It is a busy major road taking traffic through a dense residential area. It allows cars to cut through from the H8 Standing Way to Buckingham Road by crossing through Whaddon Way. The route is heavily used by people travelling to Bletchley Station.  Traffic in Whalley Drive has become incredible fast and is also used by lorries.

Residents have been telling local councillors Mick Legg and Nigel Long that action is needed to make this junction safe and that measures to control inappropriate parking are required.

Cllr Mick Legg said, “I have raised this problem formally with Milton Keynes Council. We need action to remove a dangerous “blind corner.”

Cllrs Mick Legg and Nigel Long have been working with residents on the very dangerous A421 junction with Trafalgar Avenue and hope to repeat their success the Whalley Drive “blind corner”.

Cllr Legg concluded, “I am pleased that residents have asked me to take up this problem. I want to build on the progress made on other traffic problems locally. However the Council must always consult before implementing changes. I will be pushing the Council to make sure any changes stack up and have resident support. The Council must address this dangerous “Blind corner”.”
