On Friday 23 June Labour’s candidate Ed Hume was elected to represent the “Eaton North” area of Bletchley, better known locally as the northern part of the Lakes estate around Serpentine Court and Sir Herbert Leon Academy.

Ed, who works in the rail industry and lives in Central Bletchley, was elected unopposed to the Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council. He has already been talking with residents about the need to improve the area. He was concerned about fire safety on Serpentine court and wants to see better street cleaning and a better housing repairs service.  

Ed said, “I am really pleased to have been elected to represent the residents of the Lakes estate. I want to work with other town councillors to provide strong and effective leadership that listens more to the needs of the community. Bletchley and Fenny Stratford is already a great place to live, and I am looking forward to working with other councillors to make it an even better place to live and work.”

Ed was very concerned at the town councils recent decision to cut the free swimming for older people, for the young and disabled.

He added, “I thought the decision to cut free swimming was a bad one. I asked the Town Council to think again. This is now under review.”

Ed believes the Town Council needs to give residents a stronger voice in opposing developments such as Salden Chase. He strongly supports the need for a Bletchley by pass and says that the Salden Chase development should be called in by the Government.

He is also keen to ensure that the pending regeneration of the Lakes estate, including the Serpentine Court area is based on the views of residents.

He added, “I want to support residents in their work to regenerate the Lakes estate.”

The Labour Party believes Ed will be a great addition to the local team of over 25 parish, town and Milton Keynes Labour councillors representing Bletchley.
