West Bletchley has had a poor deal with years of underfunding in core areas like pavements. But at last Councillors are now seeking investment in West Bletchley pavements. But so much more needs to be done.

Cllr Nigel Long said, “At last we are starting to see some investment in pavement improvements locally. This is a major concern locally and I have identified a large number of pavements that need action. My fear is that if Milton Keynes Council changes control again, we will go back to the lost years of underfunding. When Bletchley was badly neglected.”

Cllr Long is calling for a big push in pavement investment across Bletchley. The last two years have seen investment to improve roads, with millions going into road improvements and tackling potholes. But now there is a need to change focus.

Cllr Long called for the Council to declare next year the ‘Year of the Pavement’. He said, “We need to make 2016/17 the Year of the Pavement. It may not be as exciting as the Chinese Year of the Monkey. But it would be welcomed by residents in many parts of Milton Keynes and especially in neglected Bletchley.”

Cllr Long concluded, “I believe Labour led Milton Keynes Council has made a huge difference after the ‘lost years’ between 2002 and 2014. New Council houses, investment in roads again, investment in social care, new schools. These could all be lost. In addition investing in pavements would be a great next step for West Bletchley. Lets have a Year of the Pavement!”
