West Bletchley Parish Council has agreed to invest £310,000 to improve pathways and create a trim trail, plus extra plants and litter/dog bins at popular Rickley Park.

West Bletchley Councillor Elaine Wales said: “I was really pleased that last week Labour-led West Bletchley Parish Council agreed to invest £310,000 in Rickley Park. I have consistently campaigned for and supported the vital maintenance and improvements to our local green spaces.”

Bletchley Parish Councillor Cllr Ed. Hume said: “I have been talking to local residents about improvements to Rickley Park and I was pleased to attend the meeting when the decision to invest was agreed unanimously. It was a good decision and shows what a community focused well run Labour-led Council can do for the people of Bletchley.”

The £310,000 covers trim trail fitness equipment, including a 6-piece gym station and 4 satellite areas in the park with two pieces of fitness equipment. The full investment covers:

  • Footpaths                    £220,000 (including £20,000 for footpath owned by MKC)
  • Trim Trail fitness equipment                    £60,000
  • Bulb planting                    £20,000
  • Litter/Dog bins                    £5,000
  • Benches                    £5,000

Cllr Elaine Wales added: “I am pleased that we are investing in Rickley Park, both to encourage local keep-fit activities and to improve the quality of pathways for the many residents who visit the park every week either for exercise or to walk the dog. The new Trim Trail fitness equipment is another good step forward and I’m sure will be well used and loved by local residents.”

Cllr Hume concluded: “Local residents tell me that our parks in Bletchley are important. I would like to see Rickley Park, like nearby Chepstow Park, become a Green Flag park. One of the best 1000 parks in the Country. This latest investment brings us another step closer to achieving that.”
