Residents of Duncombe Street have signed a petition to have their road become a 20mph speed limited road. This needs to be considered as part of speed reduction measures in neighbouring roads such as the Clifford, Brooklands, Windsor and Westfield roads.
Local Community campaigner Ed. Hume is working with local resident Ayesha Khanom to collect signatories and build support for the proposed 20mph speed limit in Duncombe Street and neighbouring roads.
Ed. Hume said: “I am working with residents of Duncombe Street to secure the introduction of a 20mph speed limit in a very busy road that is used by lorries and buses as well as cars. It is a cut through road and it can be dangerous because of speeding traffic. Action is needed to improve road safety.”
Ed has also been liaising with MK Council Cabinet member Cllr Martin Gowans and it is suggested that given the high level of resident support for the introduction of speeding limits in Duncombe Street and surrounding streets, this group of roads should be a top priority.
Ed Hume added: “I have written to the Cabinet member for roads and suggested that the introduction of a 20 mph speed limit on Duncombe Street should be a top priority for the Council.”
MK Council agreed a new scheme for implementing 20mph speed limits in older areas in March. It requires a formal consultation on the proposals with residents in the roads affected by a proposal.
