Proposals to implement a traffic calming scheme outside Fulwell Court sheltered housing scheme on St Leger Drive, allowing safe crossing for residents to the shops and safe crossing for pupils at nearby Great Linford Primary School, have moved one step closer with the start of full public consultation on the scheme.

This comes after local residents presented a petition to the Council calling for action.

The scheme was put forward by Stantonbury Labour Councillors Martin Petchey and Hannah Minns.

Cllr Petchey said: “After listening to residents of Fulwell Court and parents of children at nearby Great Linford Primary School, we asked the Milton Keynes Cabinet to fund a road safety scheme. They agreed the funding and the scheme and plans have now been drawn up by the Highway Team  at Milton Keynes Council in conjunction with Great Linford Parish Council and concerned local residents.”

Cllr Minns added: “The proposals will now go out for public consultation and if given the go ahead the new scheme will be constructed in early 2020.”

Cllr Petchey concluded: “I am proud of the hard work the local community put in to developing this proposal and would like to thank the Parish Council for its help and support. When we get the final OK I believe we will see a scheme that improves road safety both for older residents and for the children of the local school.”
