Milton Keynes Labour Party Stronger, Greener Communities
Young Labour
Milton Keynes Young Labour Group
Our Youth Officer Saskia Soden heads up our local Young Labour Group, which meets monthly and is tasked with engaging members up to the age of 27. Past events have included meet-ups at the popular Stony Stratford event Eat Street, and future socials and opportunities for young members to get involved are in the works!
The aim of MK Young Labour are:
1. Representation
We want to build a friendly, inclusive atmosphere for all our young members with the group providing opportunities to share issues and have discussions on subjects particularly affecting young members. The group will be used to provide an area for young members to be welcomed into the party with our meetings being informal and less intimidating for all young members.
2. Campaigning
As a Young Labour Group, we wish to use our skills whether that be in public speaking or in social media ads, to support election campaigns in our constituencies. Campaigning can be a great way to become fully integrated into the party and the use of canvassing sessions with relaxed meetups afterwards will take away the anxiety of campaigning for many young members.
3. Community Engagement
We want to step outside the endless acronyms of politics and develop clear community outreach, volunteering at groups focused on issues that are important to us as a group. Community engagement is a great way to meet other members outside the sphere of politics whilst helping out in the community at the same time.
