Working people in Milton Keynes are now on average £2061 a year worse off, new figures have revealed.

In terms of money it’s the highest fall outside of London and above the national average of £1640.

Shadow Local Government Minister, Andy Sawford MP, joined Labour campaigners in Bletchley yesterday to raise awareness of the cost of the Government.

Leading Labour figures will be campaigning across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Kent and Sussex. MPs and Shadow Ministers will join the campaign teams to highlight the rising cost of everyday life for hard-working people and families.

An online survey is also being launched where people can share their experiences of the Cost of Living Crisis.

Andrew Pakes, Labour & Co-operative parliamentary candidate for Milton Keynes South, said: “With winter heating bills coming through the letter box and after the cost of Christmas, January is always a tough month for many families and pensioners.

“The Government does not understand the difficulties families are facing with prices rising faster than wages. We cannot duck difficult decisions on the economy, but we need to get the deficit down in a fairer way.

“With so many struggling to make ends meet, we need help to ease the squeeze, change our economy and ensure that living standards rise for the many -; not just for a few at the top.”
