Residents of South Furzton were up in arms at the disgraceful anti social behaviour following the Daisy Carnival Festival at the MK Bowl on the 11 July.

The residents of nearby South Furzton saw their streets covered in rubbish, unacceptable parking and observed people clearly under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

South Furzton Councillors Nigel Long and Mick Legg, following numerous telephone calls from residents of Favell Drive and Elmhurst took up the problems arising from the event with senior Council staff.

Cllr Nigel Long said, “it was clear that the event failed in terms of supervision of the people attending the carnival. There were no stewards stopping poor parking, littering and ensuring that drug taking and other anti social behaviour was challenged.”
Events at the MK Bowl are subject to various licensing requirements and the problems have been brought to the attention of the Council’s regulatory ‘licensing committee’.

Cllr Long added, “There is a programme of events planned at the MK Bowl over the summer. The next major musical event is on the 9 August, with the top flight Foo Fighters in early September backed by the legendry Iggy Pop. These are likely to attract huge audiences.”

Cllr Long concluded, “We must not see a repeat of the disgraceful behaviour from the July 11 event and the poor management and monitoring of events must not be repeated. It is not fair on nearby residents in South Furzton and other areas.”
