South Furzton residents are dreading this coming weekend, (5/6 September) when the MK Bowl will play host to top flight band the Foo Fighters, backed by legendary rocker Iggy Pop.

In July, the last major concert at the Bowl caused huge problems for residents living nearby in roads such as Favell Drive. Problems included poor parking, drug taking, drunkenness, rubbish everywhere and a general disregard for local people.

South Furzton councillor Nigel Long has written to Milton Keynes Council to try and ensure effective action is taken to stop the problems occurring again.

Cllr Nigel Long said, “In July I raised the need to manage the concerts properly so local people do not suffer. I have now asked the Council to confirm they are taking action with the police to manage next weekend’s huge event properly.”

Cllr Long is seeking confirmation that:

• Traffic will be properly managed.

• Poor parking tackled.

• Zero tolerance of drug taking.

• Zero tolerance of drunkenness.

• Stewards will be on duty before, during and after the concert.

• Council and Police staff must have a high visible presence.

Cllr Long concluded, “There must be zero tolerance. I expect the Council and Police to tackle all previously highlighted problems.”
