Fast traffic on the V1 Snelshall Street between Tattenhoe and Tattenhoe Park at key school times is causing real dangers as parents travel to popular local schools Priory Rise in Tattenhoe Park and Giles Brook Primary School on Tattenhoe.

Both schools are reached by turning off the V1 and this road has become so busy with very fast traffic that residents are looking at the case for lower speed limits.  

Tattenhoe Community campaigner Anthony Brown said,  “I have been talking with local residents and they are concerned that the traffic on the  V1 (between the H7 and H8) which serves the Giles Brook and Priory Rise primary schools is travelling at 50/60 mph. This  is quite a dangerous mix. It is creating dangers for parents and residents entering the estates and especially leaving them.  This requires them to join a very  fast road.”

Anthony continued, “We have seen similar problems on the A421 (Standing Way) where changes were made to the feeder road junctions, at Trafalgar Avenue and more recently at the Fulmer Street (V3) junction with Dulverton Drive where a double roundabout and 40mph speed limit has been introduced.” 

Both the above examples were very similar to the /turnings into the Tattenhoe estates and the popular local schools. This traffic flow will increase greatly as the schools grow.

Anthony concluded, “I’m planning  to start a local campaign for a reduction in the speed limits on this part of the V1 and for both junctions to be reviewed.”
