Labour Councillor Steve Coventry from Woughton and Fishermead ward has been elected as the Mayor of Milton Keynes for the 2016-17 year.

Councillor Steve Coventry, who was the Deputy Mayor of Milton Keynes in 2015-16, was unanimously elected as the new Mayor at a meeting of the full council on 18 May 2016.

Steve is the first Mayor from Woughton and Fishermead ward and has represented that area on MK Council for 21 years.  He has also been a Parish Councillor, School Governor and involved in other community and voluntary groups in the ward.

As Mayor, Steve will be Milton Keynes’ “first citizen” for the next 12 months and will represent MK and the council at a very wide range of events and occasions. The Mayor also chairs the meetings of the full council.

Each year the Mayor chooses a charity for which they will fund raise during their mayoral year and Steve has chosen the Redway special school which is located on Netherfield within his council ward.
