West Bletchley Labour Councillors Mick Legg and Nigel Long have marked 16 years of providing a drop-in surgery for local residents by moving the service to newly modernised premises.

After locating their surgery at Melrose shops for the last six years, the Labour Councillors are now available at a different location to local residents who needs to speak to them in person.

The modernised community facility, known as the Frank Moran Centre will now be the home for the weekly advice surgery as well as home to community activities ranging from a over 55s coffee Club, to computer courses to advice services and a general community drop in.

Cllr Nigel Mick Legg  said, “We have been running an advice surgery every Saturday morning for 16 years. We are delighted to be returning to a modernised Frank Moran centre after 6 years in the Melrose Avenue Resource Centre. The new centre is a fantastic facility and will be a great resource for the local community. ”  

The surgery opened, in the new premises, for the first time on Saturday 21 May and welcomed three residents who called in for a chat and some advice. There were 8 callers yesterday (Saturday 28 May)

Cllr Long said, “I was not sure people knew about the new venue. So I was delighted to welcome former councillor Tom Cleary as the first visitor. Always good to see Tom who continues to raise issues in the community long after he was a local councillor.” 

The Frank Moran centre is owned by West Bletchley Parish Council. It is next to the Melrose pre-school and close to the Denbigh Club and Abbeys School. Directly opposite Melrose shops.

The advice surgery runs every Saturday from 9.00am to 10am. No appointments needed.
