Thursday 8 September sees the West Bletchley Parish Council Salden Chase Sub committee meet to discuss how to fight the latest proposals to build on the Salden Chase area just outside Milton Keynes, to the South West of Bletchley.

Labour Councillors are making sure that Bletchley residents get their say regarding the controversial Salden Chase development. Previous versions of the proposals have been significantly opposed by local people.

Bletchley Park local Councillor Elaine Wales, who also chairs the local Residents Action Group is calling for residents to come together again to challenge the revised planning application for Salden Chase.  See the West Bletchley Council website for meeting details: http://www.westbletchleycouncil.gov.uk/Article/Detail.aspx?ArticleUid=22a99160-2013-45fb-a0a7-03b54a5b07ed

Cllr Elaine Wales said, “The West Bletchley Parish Council has a long record of opposing the development because it will create a range of problems including traffic congestion and flooding problems. It will also impact on Milton Keynes’s under pressure services; whilst the Council Tax revenue will go to Aylesbury Vale Council. ”

Cllr Wales concluded, “I know this is a ‘David versus Goliath battle and they have pots of money and the Conservative Government changed the rules to help developers overcome local opposition. But I feel this development is such bad news, with Bletchley picking up the costs for future public services while the Council Tax will go into another Council. As with the David v Goliath story we can take on the developers and win. We’ve done it twice before and we can do it again. ”

Note:

The Salden Chase area is outside of Milton Keynes within the Aylesbury Vale planning area and so it will be Conservative controlled Aylesbury Vale Dictrict Council that will decide on any planning permission, NOT Milton Keynes Council.  The developer’s  proposal for the site can be found here: See: http://www.southwestmiltonkeynes.co.uk/the-proposals/
