This Tuesday Milton Keynes Cabinet Finance lead Cllr Rob Middleton will take the next step to deliver the £13.5 million pound Medical Centre at Whitehouse, serving 22,500 residents 

The next stage is to recruit a builder to develop the site. 330 new Homes are already occupied In the Western Expansion Area (WEA) and with six major national house builders on site it is expected that the number of new homes completed will start to accelerate in 2018. The aim is to open the new Whitehouse Medical centre in June 2019. This brings it forward from the ordinal target date of 2020.

Milton Keynes Council is leading the delivery of the new centre on behalf of NHS partners. Once complete the Council will enter into a lease with the NHS body that will run the new centre.

Cllr Rob Middleton said, “I am proud that the City Council is leading the development of this important new medical practice in the Western growth area. We agreed the funding previously. Now I am putting in place the framework to deliver the medical centre.“

The new medical centre, once built will become the home of medical and social care services.

Cllr Nigel Long, Cabinet member for Adult Social Care added, “Once the next stage of appointing the successful builder for the site is completed, NHS and social care bodies along with service users will be involved in the design of the new centre. Not only is this week’s decision about new medical provision it is about developing an integration of health and care services.“

Cllr Middleton concluded, “Milton Keynes Council is about to deliver the next stage in the provision of more GP services in a major growth area. But it is also about a well run Council working with our health partners to integrate services against a backdrop of Government under funding.“
