Milton Keynes Council has an excellent and highly regarded Community Alarm service that shows the value a Labour led Council places on keeping older and disabled people safe in their own homes.

Last year 2016/17 saw the Community Alarm service take 223,000 calls, an average of 18,500 per month.

Response times: (achieved or surpassed the KPI’s)

• 97.50% of all alarm calls answered within 60 seconds.
• 99.00% of all alarm calls answered within 3 minutes.

The breakdown of the calls was:

• 4,886 reassurance calls
• 58 emergency calls to the Police.
• 263 emergency calls to the Fire Brigade.
• 701 emergency calls for Doctors.
• 2,063 emergency calls for an Ambulance.
• 2,943 emergency response from the Mobile Wardens.

The Community Alarm Service is a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year service available to anyone living within the borough of Milton Keynes with no restrictions to age or tenancy. The service is provided to 4900 people who pay £3.46 per week.

Last year over 2000 calls led to an ambulance being called and another 3000 calls saw the Councils mobile wardens visit the older or disabled person’s home to make sure the resident was safe.
