A leading Cabinet member will next week take a delegated decision to start the open procurement process for the building of Whitehouse Community Meeting Place.

The Meeting Place will be built on the site adjacent to Watling Academy, and will have a multi-purpose hall space with storage, meeting room, kitchen and outdoor area.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Jane Carr, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Leisure and Community Assets, will be taking the decision: “The Whitehouse Community Meeting Place is such an exciting project, and I’m pleased to be able to take this decision next week to start procurement.”

“The importance of community meeting places cannot be underestimated. Local residents deserve a space to gather and socialise, and the possibilities of what the Meeting Place can be used for are endless.”

The project, which is being funded by £1.9 million of developer contributions, will make sure existing and future residents of Whitehouse have a suitable space to meet.

Labour Councillor Jenny Wilson-Marklew represents Stony Stratford ward:“I’m so happy the ball is now rolling on the Whitehouse Community Meeting Place. It will be a central hub for physical and social activities, and give local residents a space to come together.”

“It will make such a positive difference to the communities of Whitehouse, and I can’t wait until it is complete.”
